Get to Know Francoise Desir – Our 2018 PharmaVOICE 100 Recipient
24 August 2018

Francoise Desir’s job title may be Senior Project Manager but she is far more than that. She is a mother, wife, mentor, philanthropist, and a 2018 PharmaVOICE 100 recipient.

We sat down with Francoise to find out her thoughts about being named a PharmaVOICE 100 recipient, learn more about her experience with Synteract, and get to know her personally.

What are your thoughts on being named to the PharmaVOICE 100 – Most Inspiring People in Life Sciences?
I felt a strong sense of gratitude knowing that, although I was selected for this honor, I did not achieve this milestone on my own. I was fortunate to encounter many individuals throughout my career and life that have deposited gems of knowledge and wisdom, created opportunities and paths for me, and this honor is also a reflection of them. My passion, commitment, and dedication truly come from the heart and to be able to transfer these emotions to “make an impact” truly warms my heart.

Where are you from and where do you currently live?
I was born and spent the early years of my childhood in Haiti. I now reside in Cary, North Carolina.

What attracted you to Synteract?
The company’s vision. When I joined Synteract, our motto was “Shared Work, Shared Vision”—and this phrase described our core mission to support mid-sized biopharma companies in bringing needed therapies to patients – or as we say now, “bringing clinical trials to life.” When I joined the company and came in contact with the people who truly lived this vision, it was apparent that I was in the right place. Furthermore, feedback from our clients that they sense true partnership, dedication, and commitment when working with Synteract made me realize the company was a perfect fit.

What is one of your favorite memories at Synteract?
I have many memories from our fun office parties to all day training on new systems/processes. But my favorite memory was (and still is) watching Synteract continue to grow and innovate while staying consistent with our values and principles.

What was your first job?
My first “real” job after graduating college (Go CUSE!) was at a then small biopharmaceutical company in Summit, NJ. I served as a data entry clerk within the Customer Service Department. This was the starting point of my career in this Industry.

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
Is the ability to “do it all” considered a superpower? Perhaps to be Superwoman.

Where has been your favorite travel destination?
Africa. I had the opportunity to travel to Ghana, West Africa last year with my extended family to bring medical supplies to a women’s healthcare clinic. This journey and experience changed my life forever.

Are you involved in any charitable organizations?
I am very involved in several charitable opportunities through my church, which includes book bag drive for local schools, collection of canned goods for local shelters, and ministering to a local women’s prison. In addition, my family and I look for every opportunity to give back, including volunteering at the local shelter on Thanksgiving and adopting a family during Christmas.

Do you have any hidden talents or things about you that people might be surprised to know?
I love to sing. I was a faithful member of the Praise and Worship Team at my church.  Note that I said I “love” to sing, not that I “can” sing.

Thank you for your time, Francoise, and congratulations! Your honor is well-deserved.
