Synteract Celebrates 15 Years of Success as Contract Research Organization

Milestones include global expansion and impressive repeat business percentages

SAN DIEGO – May 25, 2010 – Synteract, Inc., a full-service contract research organization (CRO) founded in 1995 and dedicated to meeting the clinical research, technology, and safety needs of biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. The company, which has a staff of more than 300 people and an exceedingly high rate of repeat and referral business, has consistently been ranked as one of the fastest growing companies in San Diego County.

Synteract has realized multiple milestones in its history, including:

  • Synteract has conducted more than 800 trials in multiple areas of specialization, especially oncology, central nervous system, cardiovascular, respiratory, and ophthalmology, among others;
  • It has worked with more than 225 customer companies, and has higher than a 90% referral and repeat business rate;
  • Its proprietary electronic data capture system, SynCapture, has been used on approximately 100 studies and its usage numbers continue to grow;
  • Adding offices in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and a Phase l unit in the Midwestern U.S. in just the past 2 years has expanded the company’s domestic capabilities;
  • International expansion has occurred via the opening of an office in Prague, Czech Republic;
  • The company is currently working on trials for approximately eight of the top 100 drugs as identified in R&D Directions.

According to CEO and co-founder Ellen Morgan, Synteract has broadened its executive roles and its footprint in the past two years to meet client requests. “We have established a great reputation in the industry over the last 15 years. With our expanded footprint and more senior, experienced executives, our goal is to provide our clients with the same flexibility, guidance and responsive service for their multinational trials that they have become accustomed to when working with us in the U.S.,” says Morgan. “We are now big enough to meet all their needs, yet still personalized enough to tailor our services to their specific requirements.”

In 2010 Synteract is expanding its exhibitions at industry shows and putting additional emphasis on its two newest offices in North Carolina and Prague, Czech Republic. Its expansion goal is to provide better support for its clients in clinical trials, especially for American companies that are looking for additional patient sources internationally. Synteract has a strong executive management team and provides high quality, personal service using collaborative methodology with its clients. Project teams work closely with sponsor companies, as though they are an extension of the client’s internal team.

Synteract is planning for additional international growth in 2010 with further expansion throughout Europe and strengthening of alliances in other countries.
