Synteract, Inc. Opens East Coast Office in Research Triangle Park Area of North Carolina

SAN DIEGO - Oct. 30, 2007 - Synteract, a leading full service contract research organization, has opened a new office in Morrisville, North Carolina, in the Research Triangle Park community. The new office is located in close proximity to a large number of emerging biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies and will support the company's East coast expansion.

With a successful track record of more than 12 years of clinical trial development and management with biotech and emerging companies on the West coast, Synteract has distinguished itself as a responsive specialist that understands the needs of emerging companies with new technologies. In addition to providing the full range of clinical services Synteract also supports more specialized offerings such as strategic planning, protocol development, electronic data capture (EDC), and interactive voice response (IVR) systems. The new office, which will initially house safety and clinical operations personnel, will provide an East coast location to support clinical monitoring and site management, safety surveillance, and project management. Synteract plans to grow the office by hiring additional safety associates, clinical research associates, project managers, and sales management throughout 2007 and 2008.

Establishing an office in North Carolina aids the company in minimizing time zone differences for clients with offices or study sites on the East coast and in Europe, and also offers lifestyle flexibility for Synteract employees who prefer to be located there, rather than in California. The company will benefit from closer proximity to the FDA and EMEA for meetings and other interactions, and customers will benefit by being closer to their Synteract teams.

"At Synteract, responsive customer support is a promised standard that includes education, mentoring and ongoing assistance," said Synteract's Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations and Project Management Stewart Bieler. "We're confident that this innovative technology community will benefit from Synteract's robust information technology capabilities and expertise in clinical operations and safety surveillance processes. With these expanded operations capabilities, we anticipate even faster growth than we have seen in the past few years."

Headquartered in San Diego County, Synteract has consistently been listed by the San Diego Business Journal as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in the county. With therapeutic expertise in oncology, cardio-pulmonary disciplines, ophthalmology, central nervous system and endocrinology, in addition to medical device feasibility and pivotal studies, Synteract offers full clinical trial support and secured web access to its E2B gateway as an application service provider. This enables clients to perform electronic submissions through the gateway from any location, while Synteract provides the technical support and maintenance of the system.
